Tyson Ngubeni

Tyson Ngubeni is a South African comedian, actor and voice artist, whose brand of character-driven humour and sharp observations is a distinct addition to the country’s well of talent.

In the space of a few years, he has worked closely with South Africa’s comedy and theatre trailblazers and continues to catch the eye with a thrilling blend of stand-up and acting.

His debut show The Dark Ages played to full houses and won a Standard Bank Encore Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in 2016. He teamed up with award-winning comedians Donovan Goliath (director) and Siv Ngesi (producer) to bring his vision to life. The show’s themes question xenophobic and Afrophobic attitudes and it was featured on Talk Radio 702’s Night Talk: ‘South Africans Doing Great Things‘.

Tyson uses comedy to build partnerships that enable deserving students to raise funds for higher education; he has worked with the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Thuthuka Bursary Fund as well as the Tsebo Bursary fund to raise vast sums throughout 2016.

As an events MC, he has worked with clients including Standard Bank, Roche Pharmaceuticals, AfroCentric Health, Rhodes University and the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre.
