Brent Palmer

BrentPalmer; a London trained actor, stand-up comedian and writer is a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit; known for his blend of observational comedy and self-deprecating humour. He has played festivals like “Old Mutual Comedy Encounters”; Parker’s Comedy Club in Johannesburg, as well as a special for MNet in Lagos called “Live in Lagos”. He can currently be seen performing at various clubs in the Cape Town comedy circuit. However; since the birth of his son; he literally has to resort to lies, trickery and con-artistry to get out of the house to do them nowadays.

Apart from his stand-up comedy performances; he has also directed Comedian of the Year (2008); Nik Rabinowitz in all of his last seven shows; including ‘Stand and Deliver” which enjoyed consistently sold out runs across the country. Brent has also written for and directed performers such as Siv Ngesi (Race Card) and Gaetan Schmidt (The Belgian) However, as much as he loves writing for other comedians; he rather enjoys the comedy coming out of his mouth too

Coupled with his love of comedy; Brent has also written of four produced plays; one of which is his comedy-drama “Bench” which was nominated for two Fleur Du Cap awards and received consistently glowing reviews; apart from the one of course … which he won’t mention in this bio.

Brent has appeared in numerous films; including the Triangle, a Shuster film, Flood, Dissonances, Forever Lost, Mercenary for Justice (Steven Seagal) and Zambezia. He has also been involved, as actor, in a number of theatre projects at the Baxter, Artscape, Maynardville and the Little theatre including; King Lear, Hamlet, Macbeth, Women Beware Women, False Witness as well as his self-written play Corner Hope & Vrede. (Notice how he squeezed in Steven Seagal??)

His television credits range from Interrogation Room, Madam and Eve to Charlie Jade and Tinsel (Nigeria).

He has also taught widely and worked as a facilitator in the corporate sector for a collective period of six years. (Sometimes he even told a joke or two in those corporate sessions. Until they threatened to fire him … so he stopped)
